Security requirements
| · | Always log on as domain administrator on the machine on which you run the AdmWin executable.
| · | For smoothest operation, the machine you manage should be a domain member. (When a machine joins the domain, the domain administrator account becomes member of the local administrators group of the machine.)
| · | When managing a non-domain member machine - a machine in a remote domain or in a workgroup:
| · | SetupExplorer, NTinfo and WinRemote - displays a logon prompt.
| · | SetupBatcher - use the LogonAs + Logoff commands to temporarily gain access to a remote machine. Without the correct privileges, SetupBatcher will return an access denied error code 5.
| · | Non-AD operations should work without problems.
| · | In order to use the SetupBatcher AD commands and the SetupExplorer AD functions, all the following criterias must be met:
| · | DNS must be correctly set up in both domains - from the command prompt, try nslookup NetBIOS domain name A and server name A in domain B and vice versa. (Example: if full DNS name = d31.acme.com, then NetBIOS name = d31 -> type "nslookup d31" without quotes.)
| · | The current domain must be trusted by the target domain - try the "verify trust" button in "active directory domains and trusts". (Notice that you may have to reboot if you already have a connection to the other domain "credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials".)
| · | Control must be delegated to the administrator of current domain in "active directory users and computers" of remote domain. (If no control is delegated, it is only possible to view (read only) objects in "active directory users and computers", if you try to create or delete an object, the error message "insufficient access rights to perform the operation" is returned.)
| · | Always log on as administrator on the Windows machine on which you run the AdmWin executable.
| · | A connection must be established with Lin.DS.Logon before any Linux directory command can be executed.
| · | A connection must be established with Lin.SSH.Logon before any Linux secure shell command can be executed.
| · | Always log on as administrator on the Windows machine on which you run the AdmWin executable.
| · | Log in as "admin" in the Novell Client for Windows.
