Click the main AdmWin tab labeled "NTinfo" to access NTinfo. It is also possible to start AdmWin with the command line parameter "/ntinfo" to enter NTinfo directly on startup.



Choose operating mode by selecting the "domain", "machine" or "lookup IP" radio button.

Domain - get data from all machines in one or many domains

·Use the domain combo box to select a domain. If NTinfo finds more than one Domain, the "*ALL*" option will be enabled, select "*ALL*" to scan all available domains. To scan a list of specific machines see How to scan a list of machines.  
·Select what to display by clicking the check boxes under "Hardware", "OS" and "Network", see Properties and data format. Or use the event log reader.  
·Click the scan button to start the job.  

Machine - get data from a single machine

·Enter a machine name in the edit box.  
·Select what to display by clicking the check boxes under "Hardware", "OS" and "Network", see Properties and data format. Or use the event log reader.  
·Click the scan button to start the job.  

Lookup IP - lookup an IP name, IP address or IP range

·Enter an IP name, IP address or IP range in the edit box  
·Enter "altavista.com" to get one of their IP numbers  
·Enter "205.152.190.13" to PING that address and to get the corresponding IP name  
·Enter "204.152.190" to scan the IP address range from 204.152.190.0 to 204.152.190.255  
·Enter "204.152.190.20-22" to scan the IP address range from 204.152.190.20 to 204.152.190.22  
·Check the PING checkbox to PING.  
·Check the MAC checkbox to lookup MAC addresses.  
·Check the port scanner checkbox to scan all ports on the selected IP number / address or range.  
·Click the scan button to start the job.  

General options

·Uncheck "Show scan" to hide the text window during data retrieval. This improves the read speed.  
·"Auto grid" automatically brings up a ResultGrid when the current operation is finished  

Domain and machine mode only

·The "Name all rows" option adds the computer name to every row.  

Machine mode only

·"Show domain" inserts the current domain name before the computer name from "Name all rows".  

Notice

·If the network is large, the scan process can take a considerable amount of time and generate a lot of network traffic.  
·It is always possible to hit the "Escape" key on the keyboard to abort the scan. Please notice that there for some properties can be a quite long delay before the job actually stops.
