Getting started

| · | Use the domain combo box to select a domain. If NTinfo finds more than one Domain, the "*ALL*" option will be enabled, select "*ALL*" to scan all available domains. To scan a list of specific machines see How to scan a list of machines.

| · | Select what to display by clicking the check boxes under "Hardware", "OS" and "Network", see Properties and data format. Or use the event log reader.

| · | Click the scan button to start the job.

| · | Enter a machine name in the edit box.

| · | Check the PING checkbox to PING.

| · | Check the MAC checkbox to lookup MAC addresses.

| · | Check the port scanner checkbox to scan all ports on the selected IP number / address or range.

| · | Click the scan button to start the job.

| · | Uncheck "Show scan" to hide the text window during data retrieval. This improves the read speed.

| · | "Auto grid" automatically brings up a ResultGrid when the current operation is finished

| · | The "Name all rows" option adds the computer name to every row.

| · | "Show domain" inserts the current domain name before the computer name from "Name all rows".

| · | If the network is large, the scan process can take a considerable amount of time and generate a lot of network traffic.
|
| · | It is always possible to hit the "Escape" key on the keyboard to abort the scan. Please notice that there for some properties can be a quite long delay before the job actually stops.
